PACKING

A couple of weeks before your trip, start a list of what you plan on taking on your planned trip. Keep the list handy so you can add to it as you think of additional items you'll need. If possible, set items aside as you gather them - possibly in a spare room, in a box or bag.

To encourage your child to participate in the planning, you may want to give them a cross off list of essential items and make them responsible for doing some of their own packing. They'll enjoy the participation and you'll be teaching them responsibility and good packing habits. Of course, this will depend on their age and, no doubt, you'll want to double check what they've packed.

You should also allow your child to bring a special bag of toys, games, books, or other personal items to occupy them and also make them feel comfortable. ( BACK)
